I'm a biologist by training...Fascinating post. I'm a biologist by training so world-growing in my current novel is driven by evolutionary theory and the "new" natural history I'm creating. As I've worked on it in parallel with other realistic fiction, I realize that that involves world-building too because our specific choice of focus (say 18th century, lower-class, Russia for example) drives so much in the rest of the story.Amber J.
