There's something funny about the title of that. A list of untranslatable words — with accompanying translations. I suppose "not succinctly translatable" ruins the flow of the prose. :)
Squamish, a Salish language spoken in British Columbia, has a verb that means something like "to exit your house to investigate a commotion" (alas, I cannot remember the word itself). That always struck me as a useful word to have.
